Hi I'm Vendella

I grew up in Alabama and I'm a Latter Day Saint.

About Me

I am a mother of four. I enjoy card games, dancing, tennis and traveling. My traveling has taken me all over the world. I lived in Quebec where I had to learn french and married my husband. I've also lived in Germany. The country itself was rich in beauty and history. I was able to visit Prague, Belgium and a host of other countries. I plan on seeing and experiencing even more.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Southern Baptist and at the age of seventeen left and joined the Church of Christ. I have always been on a search to find a greater understanding of my purpose in life and what God would have me do. So, my aunt and I decided to leave church because too much was gonig on with the new pastor, gospel teachings and a host of other things. We then decided to worship at home and we asked the Lord to bring his church to us. Little did I know what God had in store for me. Two LDS Missionaries knocked at my aunt's door and she told me of their visit and that they would be coming back. Well, I was invited to come for the next visit and I took them up on their offer. I wanted to know about the Holy Ghost and they were trying to see if I was okay with Joseph seeing an angel and translating the Book of Mormon. If I could believe Moses could part the Red Sea, and that Jesus could be born of Mary then I could believe Joseph Smith could see an angel and translate the Book of Mormon. The Holy Ghost and my faith in the Lord led me to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I've now been a member of this Church for twenty five years.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being very involved in my church and community.I serve in my church as a Relief Society President in one of the world's largest women organizations. I'm a Gold Star Wife, I sit on the board of Directors for the Alabama Gold Star Families and I am on the Citizen Emergency Response Team. So, whether it is taking care of the needs of a new widow, raising funds to get a monument built in honor of our fallen heroes, or learning what to do in case of a city wide disaster this is how I live my faith.
