How do I become a Mormon?

People can learn about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many ways. You can attend church meetings, ask your Mormon friends what they believe, or meet with our missionaries. If you learn about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and want to become a member, you can choose to be baptized.

Come to church–everyone's invited!

You don’t have to be a member to attend a worship service. Visitors are always welcome. Our Sunday worship services include partaking of the sacrament (or Communion) and participating in Sunday School and other church classes.

Meet with the missionaries

Meeting with missionaries, either in person or online, is one of the most effective ways to learn about our beliefs. The missionaries will share brief messages about Jesus, God’s plan for you, and how you can strengthen your family. They can answer your questions about the Church and how to become a member. Meeting with the missionaries doesn’t mean you have decided to join the Church. It’s simply a way you can learn more about it.

Get baptized

How will you know if you want to get baptized? You will know when you have a sure, peaceful feeling that what you have learned is true. We call this a testimony. When you gain a testimony of Jesus and His gospel, you can follow His example by being baptized. Jesus was baptized by immersion in the Jordan River by John the Baptist (see Matthew 3:13–17). Jesus taught, “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” (John 3:5). You can be baptized either by a missionary or by someone you have come to know at church.
