Hi I'm Ian

I'm a recent convert to the LDS Church. I know Spanish. I want to be a lawyer. I love sports. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a Junior in college studying to become a lawyer in the near future. I love sports, with soccer (football) and basketball being my favorites. I also love music, food, traveling, and trying new things. I enjoy having fun with my friends and helping others whenever I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized into the LDS Church on August 26th, 2017. Before that, I grew up as a Southern Baptist, but as time went on, I thought that religion was not for me. And for several years, I was perfectly fine without going to church or holding a firm belief in Jesus Christ. However, after my mother died, I went through a cycle of depression and addiction. I was slowly hitting rock bottom, coming close to losing my life several times. After a year of these experiences, I was done with feeling like this. I needed to join a church. I checked out several churches, but nothing seemed good to me. Finally, I asked my father, who is a member of the Church, to get some missionaries over. When the missionaries came over and taught me, it was good. I promised them that I would read and pray about the material they taught me. The next day, while my dad and I were driving to watch a baseball game, I started reading the Book of Mormon. My dad pulled the car over and had me read Moroni 10:3-5. After reading that aloud, I felt a wave of peace, love, and hope rush through my body. The Holy Ghost was confirming to me that the Book of Mormon is the word of God! Immediately I was determined to change my life and devote it the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Later that month, I was baptized in His name, and my life has been so much better because of it. I testify that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that through His prophet Joseph Smith, it was translated so that we can read, ponder, and pray its message. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by helping others. If someone needs a ride to church, I'm always willing to pick them up and take them. I used to teach Sunday School and that was an amazing experience. I am also planning to serve a mission in Argentina, something that I am really looking forward to. I love to help others, whether it be formal community service opportunities or simply friendly advice. Since I worship God, our Heavenly Father and his Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, I try my very best be as selfless as possible, putting others' needs before my own.
