Hi I'm McKinley

I grew up in Utah and find great joy in hiking Utah's mountains. I play the trumpet and love jazz music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love performing, whether it be in choir, band, or theatre. I have always loved music, and my main interest is the trumpet. I grew up an only child with a single mother, who was recently married. I now have step-siblings and am learning to love my blended family. I am a college student, but I am taking a break from school to serve as a full-time missionary. I plan to continue my education when I return from my mission. I love learning and trying new things.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt the joy and peace from living the Savior's gospel. When I was little, my mom and I occasionally attended a church of a different faith and our family was not very active in the Mormon church. I was given the opportunity to sometimes attend the classes for young children at the Mormon church. I had always loved attending there and that is where I wanted to be. When I was eight, I made the decision to be baptized into the Mormon church. As I continued to study the gospel and attended church (sometimes alone), I slowly developed a testimony that Jesus is the Christ and that His teachings are true. My mom began progressing in the church throughout my teenage years, and she was eventually married in the temple to my step-father. I have seen so many miracles in my life, and I have watched as some of those closest to my have found great joy in choosing to live the gospel. I have worked and prayed to gain a witness of the church for myself, and I know that it is true! I

How I live my faith

I have been attending a ward in which my responsibility is to identify the needs of others and do my best to provide service for them. I love having opportunities to better learn how to serve all different kinds of people. My experiences have helped me develop greater love for others and my Savior. I try to live my life in a way that brings me closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ so that I can continue to develop my faith.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I love spending time in the mountains and enjoying nature. The majesty of mountains and canyons reminds me that God's power and existence is real. The intricacies of nature indicate to me that God created all things and that He is involved in the details of our lives. Many of God's creations are too detailed and complex to have merely been an accident. I know that when I pray, I have the opportunity to feel His love for me specifically. Even though the world is so big, my prayers are often answered in ways that show me that God is aware of me and that He exists. Show more Show less
