Hi I'm Alyssa

I am a Dancer. I love ASL. I'm a student at BYU. I am currently serving as a missionary in the Philippines. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a dance education major at BYU and love everything about dance. I am the youngest of six kids who all played sports growing up and I wanted to do something different. I love going to concerts and experiencing live music. I like driving my manual car. I started learning sign language my junior year of high school and took it for three years. I recently got my mission call to the Philippines Cavite Mission. I am so so excited to go! I love people and can't wait to serve the people of the Philippines. My family and my friends are my number one priority. I love spending time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the gospel makes me happy. I was born into the church and often wished I had been a convert. I now realize that I am still writing my conversion story. Conversion isn't a single event, but a process. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me, and that I can return to him someday. Relying upon the Savior and his atonement is the only way we can return to Heavenly Father. The Book of Mormon is true. I feel peace and receive direction every time I read it. President Nelson is a prophet of God. He receives direction for all of God's children upon the earth. If we follow the counsel we have been given and follow our own personal revelation, we will be blessed. I have a testimony of families. I know that God loves me because he gave me a family. I know that through the blessings of the temple, we can be sealed with our families forever. My testimony means everything to me. It is the reason I am going on a mission and the reason I am so happy. I am grateful for the hope that the gospel brings. We are not lost, we are not hopeless. I know that even when I fall short, I can pick myself up and try again. I know this gospel is true with all of my heart!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be kind to people. The Savior spent all of his time serving others, and I want to be like him. I know that service doesn't have to be a grand event. Most recently I was on the activities committee in my ward. I believe that bringing people together to do something fun can help others. I can't wait to serve as a missionary for 18 months. I feel so much love for the people of the Philippines and I haven't even met them yet. Living my faith to me means looking for ways to serve others.
