Hi I'm Shannon

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 19 and the youngest of 9 children, and I have loved seeing my family now grow even more since having wonderful step families. I have finished my A-Levels and am excited to eventually study Law at University. I don't have one single hobby because I truly enjoy doing anything.

Why I am a Mormon

I've always looked at my life and the creations around me and knew that there is something bigger than all this - a greater power and purpose. So when the Missionaries taught me it felt naturally right and made sense to me. I look back and I can see where the Lord placed people and gave me experiences that prepared me to hear His words. I was baptised with my brother and knew that what he wasn't doing was a good choice. This was a confirmation that my choice to get baptised and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost was therefore right. Faith doesn't come by chance, but by choice and as I have put the work in to see if this gospel is true, the Lord has blessed me with the gift of my testimony, which continues to grow. My journey since then has included many answered prayers and a growth in my understanding. I truly have seen and felt my Heavenly Father and Saviour's love for me and everyone. I know that He suffered so that I can feel joy and that the scriptures are His words that testify of Him.

How I live my faith

I'm excited to serve my LDS Mission in Greece and to learn the Greek language. I love being Sunday School Teacher. The main way I try to live my faith, however, is by loving and serving everyone around me. Jesus Christ always reached outwards to forgive, comfort and love others, rather than focusing on His will. I want to do the same and know, through prayer, faith and grace, He wants to bless me with hope, charity and strength to do so to.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

President Benson said, “There is no question that the health of the body affects the spirit, or the Lord would never have revealed the Word of Wisdom. God has never given any temporal commandments—and that which affects our stature affects our soul...May we follow our leader, Jesus Christ, and increase in stature mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially.” I love this. It reminds me that my body is a temple to my spirit. It is Heavenly Father's and Jesus Christ's most prized creations out of all of Their wonderful creations. Our bodies are so special so be kind to yourself! As we take care of them we are able to create an environment for the Holy Ghost to dwell. These bodies are gifts and the commandments come from a loving Father in heaven to keep us safe. Show more Show less
