Hi I'm Derity Eckman

I grew up in Idaho. I am serving a mission in Tempe, Arizona. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been going to college and majoring in Anthropology. However I am taking a year and a half off to serve a mission. I played alto saxophone all throughout school and sang in the choir. I took stats for football and wrestling and loved every second of it. Wrestling is my favorite sport.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel. It has brought a lot of happiness and clarity into my life. It has answered questions I have had and brought me comfort through trying times. I have experienced times when I have been close to Heavenly Father and living his teachings in the church and times where I have wandered away from it. I have always been so much happier with the gospel in my life. The gospel allows me to grow and progress throughout this mortal life and gives me hope for a future beyond the grave where I can be with my family and friends again. I am so thankful for that opportunity and the love the gospel has brought into my life.

How I live my faith

I was ward organist for my ward at home and got to play organ for Sacrament meeting. I really enjoyed it. When I went to college I was called to help organize fun activities for Family Home Evenings on Monday nights. It was just times for our ward to get together and make friends and have fun outside of church. Now I have been called to serve as a missionary for the church and am really excited for the opportunity to serve others and Heavenly Father in the mission field.
