Hi I'm Valerie Russell

I am a lover of science and all things related to biology. I am a friend, sister, missionary, and convert. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor's of Science in Human Biology. I have been a research assistant, resident assistant, tutor, and hospital volunteer. I enjoy playing tennis, playing the guitar, reading, writing, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

Prior to hearing about the church, I was really unsure about all spiritual and religious organizations in the world. The ideologies that I heard about in classes, books, and through other people made it seem like God was someone to be feared and kept at a distance. One of my close friends taught me that there are three kingdoms of heaven, which deeply resonated with me since I didn't believe judgment of the human race could be so binary and cold. From there, I began learning more about how to pray, how to search the scriptures, and how I fit into the great work that is His masterpiece. But deep down, I am not a Mormon simply because I adore the doctrines of the Church, even though that is true. I am a Mormon because I have received a testimony from the Holy Ghost that this is indeed God's true church. I am a Mormon because I want to be an instrument in the hands of God and I want to be immersed in a work that I love with my whole soul. I am a Mormon because it is through this restored church that I have received more spiritual enlightenment, guidance, and strength than through any other mechanism.

How I live my faith

I coordinate some of the lessons at church to ensure that our teachers are well prepared to help people develop better relationships with Christ. I counsel with church leaders to determine how we can better help our members and those in our surrounding community. I plan on serving a full-time mission and am currently in the process of preparing for it.
