Hi I'm Emily

I grew up in Southern California. I am studying Civil and Environmental Engineering. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California. I have three brothers which I like to think has helped me be tough. Growing up, I enjoyed playing soccer and running cross country and track and doing essentially anything outdoors. I also love doing crafts and spending time with my mom brainstorming and thinking about new things to make. I have always love math and science, maybe too much sometimes. But this passion of mine has lead me to study Civil and Environmental Engineering in college and I am loving every second of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that my Father in Heaven loves me and He wants me to be happy. Life is tough and has its ups and downs. I love knowing that my Father in Heaven knows and cares about me and the various things I am going through. I am His daughter and He is my Father. I talk to Him about everything. I know that His son, Jesus Christ, came to earth to experience life. He died for me and He atoned for my sins so I can repent and be forgiven and ultimately return to live with my Father in Heaven again. I know that God and Christ visited a young boy named Joseph Smith to answer a simple question that he had. He wanted to know which church he should join, which is something that many people want to know. He read his scriptures and turned to pray to God. God answered his question by telling him that he was going to restore Christ's church to the earth. Through Joseph Smith, we have Christ's complete gospel on the earth. Joseph Smith is such a great example to me of a man who had faith and trusted in God. Joseph translated the Book of Mormon with God's help and now we have a record of people of people who lived in America and their experiences with Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. I love reading the Book of Mormon and I am so grateful for its influence in my life. I feel at peace when I read it. I feel of Christ's perfect and individual love for me. Because God loves me, I know that he has given me so many ways to get to know Him better and to develop a personal relationship with Him. I am so grateful that I can pray to Him and talk to Him about what is going on in my life. Many times when I have questions in my life, I pray to Him and I know that He will answer my questions. Many times when I have questions, I also go to the temple where I can feel peace and comfort in God's plan for me. I love my Father in Heaven and His son, Jesus Christ, and I know that they love me too and that they want me to be happy. I say these things, in His name, Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example to other's around me. In high school I had many friends who were not members of my faith. I was able to share with them the little things that I did that may have been different than things they did. I shared my experiences about reading the Bible and Book of Mormon and also how I pray to God. I also help people in my ward with genealogy. I help them find more about their ancestors and show them how they can document and keep track of their family members.
