Hi I'm Keegan

I was born and raised in the United States. I am a student at BYU studying biochemistry. I love loving others, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy exercise and sports. I like to play pick-up games of basketball with my friends. I love watching the NBA. I also enjoy golf; it is very relaxing. Hiking is also a great hobby of mine. Currently, I am an undergrad in college studying biochemistry in preparation to enter medical school. I enjoy learning about different cultures and understanding foreign languages. I have studied Mandarin Chinese for seven years now, and I still have a long way to go until I'm fluent. I enjoy listening to and making music, specifically jazz. I play saxophone and a bit of piano, and I want to learn the guitar at some point.

Why I am a Mormon

This church has truly given me everything that I have. While I was born into this church, I did not understand what it was to become converted to the gospel of Christ until I found myself in college. I struggled with a serious problem in my life that I knew needed to be fixed. However, a number of factors kept me from doing so. I was scared to open up to anybody, I found myself powerless to fix it on my own, and the rest of the world outside of the church told me that it was normal to have such a problem and that it was, in fact, healthy for me, even though I knew it was poisoning me. One day, I prayed for the desire to overcome the problem, and I felt something burn inside me, telling me that my desire was indeed a righteous one, and that I should act further upon this desire. I listened to the words of the living prophets, read the Book of Mormon, and prayed every morning and night. I had not solidified these habits in my life previously, and I found that they gave me essential strength that I was missing. Through my study, I found that the one thing I needed to overcome my problem was Jesus Christ. I took the necessary steps to repent of my sins, including repenting to my Father in Heaven and visiting with my local church leaders. Almost instantly, I felt the spirit of God flow within me. I knew that I had been forgiven. I knew God smiled upon my action of repentance. I felt my entire life become more joyful. I found myself becoming a better person, not only regarding my previous area of trial, but in my daily interactions with others. I was becoming more loving, more Christlike. I have a testimony that this church is the true Church of Jesus Christ, and that its teachings make us a people of God. I testify that all of us on this earth are daughters and sons of a living God, our Heavenly Father. I testify that Jesus Christ is our redeemer. He can bring us out of darkness. I know because He brought me out of the dark. I testify that He can for you too.

How I live my faith

Every week, I attend church with my family. I learn about many things that all continue to teach me more about the loving nature of Jesus Christ and how I can emulate Him. In the past, I have served in the Sunday School presidency, where I coordinated the lessons that were taught in the Sunday School classes given at church. Through home teaching and ministering, I have had the blessing of being able to visit the homes of members and become close friends with them, help them with their problems, and learn more about Christ with them.
