Hi I'm Torri Herdegen

I am a world traveler. I like to try new things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying American Sign Language. I enjoy photography and capturing fun moments as well as portraits of others, it is a developing skill. I also enjoy sports, jazzercise, weight lifting and horseback riding. During the summer I cannot go a day without watermelon. I have grown up as a world traveler. Visiting and learning about the many different cultures around the world has really opened my eyes to a broader perspective of life. At age 16 I was an exchange student in Australia and I loved it. Adventure is exciting, whether that be trying new things or visiting new places. After visiting 18 different countries around the world I have gained an appreciation for not only what I have and am familiar with, but also for the different perspective of life that I have gained. There are still more places I would love to visit and things I would love to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for us all. This plan is called the plan of salvation or the plan of happiness. As I have studied and understood this plan more my faith has grown immensely, affirming to me that every part of this gospel is true. I know that Heavenly Father is merciful, he sees the worth and potential in us all. I know that I have a purpose to being here on earth, I know where I came from, and I know where I am going. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the fullness of the truth and has the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I have a testimony of true and living prophets. We have a prophet today, President Russell M Nelson, and I know that he receives direct revelation from God about what to say and how to lead the people. I know it is important to listen and heed to his words. I also know that I myself can receive revelation from Heavenly Father and I have as He has answered many of my prayers. It is because of revelation and living prophets that I know Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that he did in fact translate the Book of Mormon under the direction of Heavenly Father. My testimony of the Book of Mormon grows as I see how reading it everyday brings blessings to my life. I know that what I read is true and the principles I learn from it improve my life. I know it is true because I have prayed and received confirmation and witness in my heart from the Holy Ghost that it is a true book. I have a testimony that keeping the standards of this church and obeying the commandments of God really makes us happier and keeps us safe. I know that Satan is real and tries to pull us away from the truth but I know that I am happier when I repent and stay close to my Heavenly Father. I know that Jesus Christ truly did atone for my sins that I can repent and be clean again. I understand how essential to Heavenly Fathers plan the atonement is and am grateful for it. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and I love this gospel.

How I live my faith

I have participated and volunteered myself in numerous roles that have help the church to continue to run and function. A few things I have done is taught a Sunday school class for both kids ages 6-7 and another for women 18 and up. One year I was the head chair of the Youth Committee where I orchestrated meetings of about 25 other youth to organize events for the 12-18 year olds. These events were activities such as: service projects, dances, and fun, wholesome games. In this position I was also asked to give a speech once every month which I enjoyed doing. I live my faith daily by keeping the standards of the Church, this means: keeping my clothing modest, using clean language, not using drugs for recreational pleasures, or partaking of alcohol. Everyday I read a little bit of the Book of Mormon because when I do so it really does change my whole day, making it better. In the smallest of ways with the biggest of impacts Heavenly Father blesses me for taking time to study the Book of Mormon and I can testify to that. As I read the Book of Mormon it allows me to invite the Holy Ghost to be with me through out my day and he helps me make better decisions that make me happy.
