Hi I'm Rachel

I grew up in Maryland, i'm a student at BYU Idaho, i'm about to serve a mission in Kennewick Washington, and i'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived my whole life in Maryland, until I decided to go to school in Idaho! Growing up, I spent most of my time performing in musicals. I'm currently majoring in Theatre Education, so that I can share my love of theatre with high school students and help them feel the immense amount of joy that performing has brought into my life. For similar reasons, i'm preparing to serve a full time mission! The gospel has brought so much joy into my life and I want to share that with people. When i'm not on stage, I love playing the piano, taking pictures, singing, traveling, listening to music, and laughing with my family and friends :)

Why I am a Mormon

I think the purpose of life is to find the things that make you happy and share them with the people you care about. Perhaps the thing that has brought the most joy and peace into my life has been my knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is such a huge comfort to me to know that no matter what i'm going through, I am truly never alone. Our Savior has quite literally felt every single pain that we feel and so when we feel like no one could possibly understand, He understands! I know also that our Heavenly Father loves us. I know that he has a plan for us and that plan is there to bring us happiness in this life and eternal peace in days to come. He loves us on our good days and our bad days and if we continually strive to follow Him, we will one day be able to live with Him again and live with our families again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church on Sundays, praying and reading scriptures daily, going to the temple frequently, and working hard to show my devotion to Heavenly Father. During high school, I attended early morning seminary- which is a class where we study the scriptures before school. It was definitely difficult having a class start at 5:45 in the morning, but seminary brought so much peace into my day and I wouldn't trade it for the world. In college, I served in various positions in my church! My first semester, I conducted the music on Sundays, and during my second semester, I served as the Relief Society President in a young adult ward (which essentially meant that I would lead the class that we had for the women in my area, in addition to planning activities for them and going to meetings where I would try to find ways to meet their needs). I loved this position because it gave me tons of opportunities to know all the girls on a personal level and help them to know that they were loved. Pretty soon, I will be leaving on an 18 month mission, where I will have daily opportunities to testify of God's love for us.
