Hi I'm Kenya Rivera

I love family history. I enjoy teaching. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy investigating my ancestors. I like sitting down at the computer and looking through old documents . I feel a thrill when I find a document (birth, marriage or death certificate) for my ancestors. I also enjoy teaching English in Mexico. I feel really good when I see someone's eyes light up with understanding. I am also studying Genealogy (family history) online.

Why I am a Mormon

I think that, as in anything, Heavenly Father will always give us the freedom to choose. I was not forced into this religion even though my parents professed it. Sure I was taken to the activities and to the Sunday services, but it was always my choice if I decided to live what was taught. When the time came to chose, I prayed and decided to become a member. I have never regreted my decision because living the teachings of Jesus Christ has brought me so much peace and joy.

How I live my faith

My motto is to keep trying with enthusiasm. At the ward, I serve as the lead Family History consultor and the primary music teacher (I teach four to twelve-year-olds church music or hymns). I enjoy visiting the elderly sisters of the ward and learning about their stories and testimonies. I try to keep a positive attitude and to constantly repent of my weaknesses. Serving others through my callings or outside of them is what makes me happy and gives my life a purpose.
