Hi I'm Emily Nelson

I'm a people-loving college student studying Public Relations who will be a missionary in Canada starting in August! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

From the east coast of the United States, I have been attending a university for almost two years now studying Public Relations; however, this summer I will be leaving for 18 months to serve as a missionary in Montreal Canada. Leaving my parents and younger brother will be hard, but inviting others to come unto Christ is well worth the temporary separation! I love to ski down powdery mountains, perform one-woman concerts in my car, grab yummy meals with friends, read classic literature, laugh until my belly hurts, and live every moment to its fullest.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am imperfect. I know that because I am imperfect, I need saving. I know that the only way to be truly and completely saved is through the redeeming power of Jesus Christ. And I have come to know for myself that that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only church with the proper tools, such as the Book of Mormon, and power, such as the Priesthood, to bring me closest to Him, so that I may one day be perfected and live with my Father in Heaven again. And THAT is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

While attending school away from home, I had the privilege of being an active participant in my local church community organizing activities for the women in my congregation and playing the piano for our weekly worship. On a day-to-day basis though, I always set aside time to be still and commune with my Father in Heaven. Prayer, studying the scriptures, journal writing, listening to uplifting music, serving others, spending time in nature, etc. are all ways in which I draw closer to the Lord. Living my faith is something natural for me, but not always easy. As I do these daily tasks of inviting the Spirit of the Lord to be with me though, I find that my conviction to live and act as God would have me do is more strong.
