Hi I'm Tommy

I'm a first generation Spanish immigrant from Canada. I live in a big family and love to find solutions to problems. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to learn. In my spare time I'm constantly learning new subjects and reading books. Learning gives me the tools to be able to solve problems and help others. Even when I was a kid I was taking apart my R/C cars to see what made them tick. I like designing and thinking up new ideas and businesses. I'm planning to go to University for Engineering and Business. My mind isn't the only important thing I take care of. I enjoy weightlifting, hiking, martial arts. I also play a few instruments. I also have a little bit of a knack for writing and Travelling. Meeting new people and creating friendships with them is a great way to learn different perspectives.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger I had a period of time where I had trouble with my health. I couldn't remember the day before or even what I had learned in school. I started to question my beliefs and ask whether the church was true. In the spirit of myself I set forth and did research on many many religions and faiths. In the end I was left with this empty feeling like something was missing in all of these faiths for me. Having spent time away from the church and being inactive I had gained a new perspective on the church and when I returned I felt it deep within that this really was the true church of God. All of the things I felt that were missing had somehow appeared right in the place where I least expected them to be. I'm now getting ready to serve a full time mission and looking back I'm glad that I had that period of questioning because it just reinforced my faith in Christ. It allowed me to learn how to help others who were going through that same experience of questioning. I truly believe that this Church has what I really needed all along even 4 years after that initial revelation.

How I live my faith

In my ward I taught a class every fourth Sunday which was kind of daunting as a 20 year old but it helped to have great mentors to help me. I also have a long standing relationship with the group of young men and the Leaders of my ward seeing as my younger brother is one of them. I try to help them in as many ways as from going to camping activities to helping out with planning. I find it amazing how one as young as I can teach, learn and help people with different life experiences around me get closer to God.
