Hi I'm Makayla Mendenhall

I have lived in Utah all of my life. I have been attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have played the piano for almost twelve years and love music with all of my heart. In addition to this, I love photography, reading, and the outdoors. My dream is to travel the world when I get older. Throughout high school, I worked at an elderly home and absolutely loved it. The people truly put a light in my life that I will never forget. I have continued to work with the elderly through service clubs in college. I have just finished my freshman year at Brigham Young University and thus far have really enjoyed the experience. I will be going into nursing and look forward to the wonderful opportunities that this will bring me. In terms of family, I have three younger brothers. I love them with all of my heart and love spending time with them. My favorite thing to do with them is hike the beautiful mountains of Utah. I have been surrounded by them all of my life and love seeing them out my window every day. Overall, I just love life's journey and am so excited for each new day that brings new adventures and opportunities.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the LDS church all of my life. I continue to live the gospel faithfully each day because I know it is true. I know the Savior loves and knows each of us and has given us a wonderful plan that can help us to live with Him again someday. I know that this church was restored by Joseph Smith and that he translated the Book of Mormon for our use in these latter days. It is scripture that we can turn to in every circumstance of our lives and find the answers that we need. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and enjoy the happiness that it brings me. I have prayed to know if it is true and have received a sure witness through the Holy Spirit that it is indeed true. Its pages contain the word of God which can direct us and keep us on the straight and narrow path. As we have faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement, blessings will be poured out upon us. His hand is in our lives each and every day and he walks with us. Our journey in mortality is important to Him, and through strengthening my personal relationship with Christ, I have come to truly understand His plan and His love for me as I seek His help. We can do all things through Christ. He strengthens us, betters us, and uplifts us. I love Him with all of my heart and am so grateful for the happiness and peace that this gospel brings me. I am not perfect now but the gospel helps me to stay on the road that can eventually lead to perfection and everlasting joy.

How I live my faith

Right before leaving to college, I was the pianist for my ward choir. I loved this calling because it gave me an opportunity to practice even after I stopped taking lessons. In attending Brigham Young University I have held two callings. My first semester, I was a family home evening leader and organized the activities for each week. I loved this calling and what it taught me about leadership, planning, and my testimony. My second semester, I was a visiting teaching supervisor and kept a record of who had been taught for each month. This strengthened my testimony on visiting teaching and what a difference it makes in unifying the women in a ward. I loved doing it myself and appreciated the many friends that I was able to obtain because of it.
