Hi I'm Zak Barber

I grew up in East Yorkshire in the UK. I have a lot of dreams and aspirations. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a guitarist and aspiring singer-songwriter, I try my best. I love cars, especially Japanese sports cars from the 90's, I have a website all about them and the culture around them, drifting, racing, showing them off and so on. I love video games too, all kinds of them, racing games, shooters, RPG's. I have studied Creative Media at College and have a keen interest in films, tv shows and how to create them, I have made a few short films but have lots of film ideas too. I'm currently working at an IT firm in the technical department. I'm just about to go on my Mission, I have been called to serve in the London England Mission and am very excited about it.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been brought up in the Church since I was a baby, I have gone through the motions, I've done nursery through primary and into Young men's. I have only really embraced the gospel fully over the later stages of my life towards the end of my time in young men's. I began to go to a lot of other Church activities, firesides and so on, this fueled my testimony. I already knew the Book of Mormon was true and that I have had spiritual experiences, I have known that the church was true for while but often wished that I didn't because of the huge responsibilities with that but as years have passed I know what an honor it is to know that the church is true and to be a Mormon. It has taken me a while to get ready to serve a mission, I have worked hard to get ready to serve a mission, I want to go and serve the Lord. I know that this church is true, I have had a divine witness that it is. It's too late for me to turn my back on the gospel, I know it is true and that I have a responcability to share the gospel and to give others the opertunity to know our Father in heaven and the Saviour like I do.

How I live my faith

I have only been out of Young men's for a few years now but I was called straight back in to Young men's as a counsellor, I love the young men of our ward and it probably helps to be my fairly fresh out of young men's I feel like I can provide a different perspective to them compared with the other experienced members of the presidency. I enjoy extra church activities in our ward, we have recently started a Friday night Volleyball tournament for members of the ward who would like to go, it's really good fun to have a laugh with the other members of the ward that I wouldn't normally have much to do with.
