Hi I'm Robin

I'm from California, USA. I am a retired school teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a retired elementary school teacher, mother of four, and grandmother of eight. I love to knit, read, play board games, and do crafts and woodworking projects. My husband and I enjoy hiking, traveling, and spending time with our children and grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was growing up, my family wasn't associated with any religion. I began to feel a need to know God from a very young age. I started going to neighborhood summer Bible schools when I was about 8 years old. By the time I was 12, I was seriously looking for a stronger connection with the Lord, so I started to go to church with my friends. I attended many different churches in my quest to find the right one. When I was in the 7th grade a friend invited me to a weeknight activity at her church, the Mormon church. I knew absolutely nothing about Mormons, but I was certainly willing to find out. I went to the activity and had a great time. I felt something in that church that I had never felt before and wanted to know more. I began attending on Sunday with my friend. It didn't take long for me to know that I had found what I was looking for. This was the true Church. After learning more from the missionaries, and with my parents' permission, I was baptized. That decision changed the trajectory of my life. I am so grateful that my friend invited me to that activity! As time went on, I grew in my understanding of the Gospel. Through studying the Book of Mormon and the Bible, I grew to truly love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and to learn to serve Him by serving others. It has been a life-long process of growth, and it has made me truly happy. I know that God lives. I know that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to teach us what we must do to be able to return to our Heavenly Home. I know that Christ suffered for me and for you. He atoned for my sins so that I could repent and be forgiven. I love Him and want to be like Him in every way. I know that the Gospel has been restored in its fulness, and that God still speaks to us through His living prophets. I have found peace and direction for my life through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have been surrounded by children for most of my adult life! In addition to being a professional educator, I have found great joy in serving the children of my church. I have served as the leader of our local children's ministry for children between the ages of 18 months and 12 years. I have also taught Sunday classes for children. I've probably taught every age group over the many years I have served. Another great joy has been my participation in the Church Young Women's Camp program for girls between the ages of 12 and 18. I have loved being out in nature with these wonderful girls, helping them to draw closer to God, develop self-reliance skills, and have fun. I enjoy serving my community through church service projects, and volunteering in my community and my children's classrooms, and just by being a good neighbor.
