Hi I'm Ryan L. Bailey

I'm from Bedford, Indiana. I have a family of five brothers and a sister. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 18 years old. I like to play basketball and listen to music. I will be attending Brigham Young University, but before that I will be serving my mission in Portland, Oregon.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason why I'm a Mormon is simply because I've always known it is true. I was born into this church and it's the only thing that I've been taught. Don't get me wrong, I'm not just a Mormon because my parents want me to be, I'm a Mormon because I've figured out for myself that this is the only true church on Earth.

How I live my faith

I try to lead by example for my fellow youth in my church. I always try to encourage them to do what is right. I teach sometimes in the youth classes.

What is the First Vision?

Ryan L. Bailey
There was a boy named Joseph Smith who was living in a time where there were multiple churches with different interpretations of the Bible. They all claimed that their church was the rue church. This troubled Joseph for a very long time until he came across James 1:5 in the Bible which says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraidth not; and it shall be given him." That scripture hit him hard and he decided to pray and ask of God. So, ion the spring of 1820, Joseph went deep into a grove of trees and knelt down in prayer, asking what church was right. In answer to his prayer, Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared unto him. This is how he described it. “When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” He was told that he should join none of the churches, for they were all wrong. They didn't have priesthood authority, which lost over the centuries. Joseph Smith's First Vision marked the beginning of the Restoration of the Jesus Christ's church on the Earth. Joseph Smith's History 1:8-17 describes it the way Joseph experienced it. Show more Show less
