Hi I'm Jacob

I was raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I love my faith, family and school. I'm an Eagle Scout and love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always loved the outdoors. Scouting has been part of my life since I was eight years old. I recently earned my Eagle Scout rank, and look forward to giving back to the scouts in my ward and own family! I enjoy building computers and teaching others how to be more "tech savvy." I also take every opportunity to share the perils that exist on the internet. I hope one day to graduate college with a degree in computer science, and help develop ways for everyone, especially children, to be safer while using devices that access the online environment. I will be leaving soon to go on a two-year mission, and I can hardly wait!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read The Book of Mormon, have prayed to my Heavenly Father, and have received revelation through the Holy Ghost that it is the truest testament of our Savior, Jesus Christ. After my dad and I moved to our current home, my dad had the opportunity to visit a Temple open house with some of his friends who were Mormon. He had a conversion experience that eventually led him to be baptized. I watched, learned, and made my own decision to be baptized. This was not easy, as at first my mom did not agree. But through a lot of faith, prayer, fasting, and obedience, my mom's heart finally did soften and I was allowed to be baptized. My life has been incredibly blessed ever since. I am a happy and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I want to live my life to serve others, as our Savior would have us do...as He did.

How I live my faith

I start every day before school going to seminary. I gather with like-minded young men and women to learn from the records of our prophets. I love all of the scriptures, especially the Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. I try to live my life as an example to others. As others see me, they will also see my faith. I want others to always see me trying to live a Christ-led life. At church I lead by helping bless the sacrament, where we renew our baptismal covenants and thank our Savior for the sacrifices he made for us, all of us, on the cross.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Jacob
Tithing is a commandment that dates back to the Old Testament. We give 10% of our earnings for the further work of Christ's Restored Church here on this earth today. I have never seen it be a burden to my dad, and I don't anticipate it ever being a burden to me as well. Tithing is an privileged opportunity to respect the word of God. Through tithing, we show faith and obedience. There are insurmountable blessings that come to those who obey the law of tithing. I have witnessed this in our own home, as well as heard others testify of the same in theirs. Show more Show less
