Hi I'm Evan

I'm a small town boy from Idaho, I'm a candidate to West Point, and I'm a mormon

About Me

I completed high school and graduated in 2017. Coming from a small town,My graduating class was 15 students. The entire school has 160 students, K-12. Everyone is taught in one really long hallway, with a pair of big double doors to separate elementary from high school. After school I decided that I wanted to save up enough money to pay for my entire mission. Being blessed for living in Idaho, I found some well paying farm jobs. I'm proud to say after a year of hard work, I've gathered enough money to pay for my mission! I've received my call and plan on serving in Wichita, Kansas- Spanish Speaking. After my mission I hope to be accepted into a military academy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church. Growing up, I followed principles and guidelines as set up by the church. In my youth I didn't agree with all the guidelines, but still followed them. When I left my parents home I began to see the importance of the guidelines and commandments of God. Although they can be difficult to follow, I can testify that they have changed my entire life and have brought me so much joy. Knowing that God guides his church in the latter days and still cares for his children brings peace to my soul. Knowing God loves me enough to give me commands shows me he cares enough to protect me from Satan.

How I live my faith

On Sunday I go to church for a 3 hour block. At church everyone gathers to pews to hear the word of the Lord. I get to hear what's going on with the church, and if anyone I know has gotten a new calling. I then get to sing hymns, and partake of the sacrament. It's so wonderful, because when I partake of the sacrament I have the joy of feeling my sins being forgiven. After the sacrament I hear talks on church doctrine from the unique perspectives of church members. After church I try to go minister to people in the congregation that I've been assigned to. I've made great friends this way, and it's great to see close friendships form through my church service.
