Hi I'm Kyra Schmutz

I grew up in Utah. I play classical guitar and sing opera. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at the University of Utah. I am passionate about music. I love hiking and being outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 11 years old, I started going to church and learning more about what some of my friends believed in. As I opened my mind to learning about the church, I learned many potential answers to my questions about life, religion, and God. I had been to many different and wonderful churches before, but this one gave me a feeling of peace, love, and hope that I hadn't felt anywhere else. As I learned more about God at church, I decided that I needed to develop a personal relationship with Him in order to find out the truth. I began to pray and read the Book of Mormon and the Bible to see how it would make me feel. I felt the Spirit of God in my life. I felt a new drive to become a better person. I felt a renewed motivation to be kinder and more charitable. I felt God comforting me in difficult times. I began to see His hand in my life and gain faith that He was there and that He loved me. I had never known this before. As I grew my relationship with God, I realized that only the Mormon church explained and believed in the same kind of God that I had come to know. I decided to get baptized when I was 12 years old. Since then, my knowledge of the gospel has been a source of hope and light that has gotten me through some very difficult times in my life. I know that even though my Dad has passed away, I will see him again. I know that God loves my dear younger sister and has made a plan for me to be with my family forever. I know that my Savior is the perfect example of unconditional love and charity, and that the way to happiness is to continually strive to be more like Him. I know that He lived and died for us all, and that because of that, we can all experience boundless joy in this life and the next.

How I live my faith

I love participating in service projects with other LDS singles at my college. I enjoy doing family history work and learning about my ancestors. I also love counseling with the other women in my ward and getting closer to the people near me.
