Hi I'm Katie Curtis

I grew up and currently live in Utah. I am preparing to go on an LDS Mission and have been assigned to Czech/Slovak. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah all my life and have grown to love my mountains dearly. I love to be in the great outdoors. In the summers I like to wakeboard and be in the lake at all times. The winters are filled with many snowboarding trips. I love to hike and go on many adventures. I go on drives quite often and find myself on long road trips unpredictability. I have taken a few classes at a Utah college but have not decided on any major.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS Church and at a very young age have known of its truth. But around my senior year at highschool, my family had went through some very hard trials. I found myself not attending church on Sunday and avoiding any church sponsored activity. I stopped living the life as a Mormon. I didn't realize when the light of the Christ had left but I did start to sense a darkness. I wasn't as happy or cheerful the way people always characised me as. But after a few months of avoiding God and my religious teachers, I had met a boy that had really helped me through my trials. He was someone who had encouraged me to try to go back to church and to read my scriptures daily. And after a few months of doing this, I had regained that sense of truthfulness. I became happy and filled with hope. I looked forward to church meetings and attending the activities. I no longer felt trapped and angry. I had the light of Christ back into my life and it reassured me why I was part of this church. I know that it is true and that it is filled with God's wonderful spirit. This is a church that believes in a loving God that wants you to return back to him no matter how dark your past may be.

How I live my faith

I love this LDS church so naturally I try to live my life by attending many activities the church puts on. I have a calling to teach 10-11 year olds about my beliefs every Sunday and it is always a joy to hear their thoughts as well. I go out with the sister missionaries and help out in anyway they need. I love to read The Book of Mormon everyday and try to participate in family history work too. However, my favorite thing to do is visit the LDS Temples. They are my favorite place on Earth!
