Hi I'm Em

I've lived in Alberta my entire life and love everything about the outdoors, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

The outdoors are my happy place, specifically the Canadian Rockies. I love to be active; skiing, hiking, rock climbing, scrambling, swimming (especially in glacial lakes) and simply being out there! The mountains bring me so much joy, and there is so much beauty and happiness to be found outside. I've ridden horses since before I can remember, and love to do long distance racing; endurance and competitive trail. I play the piano and especially love Nintendo music! I'm typically introverted, but I work front desk at a hotel and enjoy getting to know new and different people. I've lived in Alberta my entire life, in a small rural town, but will soon be headed of to Sydney Australia for an 18 month mission, to share of Christ's gospel that has personally brought me so much peace!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member in the church, but still had to figure these things out for myself. My heart had to undergo a true conversion, to find out for myself that what I'd been taught was true. It wasn't till a few years ago that I realized I needed my own answers, and through the midst of a rather tough time I was able to turn to basic things such as prayer and reading the Book of Mormon. Through searching and pondering for myself, I found so many answers and several confirmations that God and Jesus Christ are real, and aware of us. I felt so much peace from the Holy Spirit, which strengthened my own beliefs and feelings towards Christ's church here on earth. Our relationship with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ is so personal, and the church has been a vehicle to strengthen and build this foundation for me. It's been more than a set of beliefs, but rather a lifestyle, that has brought me so much joy and peace that I'm not able to find anywhere else.

How I live my faith

As I strive to personally become better, I think it's important to continue to look outwards at how I can serve those around me! Simply a smile, a favour, being a friend- it doesn't have to be huge but it can make a world of difference. Christ set the perfect example of charity, and I want to follow that to my best, so I can better help those around me. I've taught the women's Sunday School (Relief Society) several times throughout the past year and I love to get discussion going; it's so great to hear the thoughts and experiences of others, and truly inspiring to hear these women speak. As previously mentioned I will be leaving to Sydney Australia soon, to serve a mission for the church. I chose this because I've seen blessings in my own life that have come from living this faith, and want to give others the opportunity to have this for themselves. There is a lot of confusion in the world today, and the gospel gives us a place to turn for answers. If I can help others to find the way to these answers, my goals will be fulfilled, as well as simply brightening the life of one person in the smallest way!
