Hi I'm Katie Church

I grew up in Salt Lake City. I attended BYU before I left for my mission in South Carolina. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I attended BYU before the mission and plan to go back after. I played competitive soccer the majority of my life, but now just play for fun. Desserts are my favorite things to eat. I live in a family of 4 and we are all very close.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in this gospel and I have such a strong testimony of the love that it brings into our lives because of the love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have for us. This gospel's foundation is love. The sacrifice Christ made for us to be able to return to our father in heaven was done because he loves us. I think the most amazing thing is that Christ went through the atonement and crucifixion because he wanted to better understand us and how to help us while we are here on earth. That is a great comfort to me knowing that someone is aware of me and knows how I feel when I am at my lowest times. I know that living the gospel will make us happier throughout this life. The commandments and covenants are set in place to guide us back to him in the happiest way possible and I can say that without a doubt.

How I live my faith

In my ward before my mission, I was the activities committee leader of the relief society. I planned 1 activity a month where the girls could get together and do something fun while creating better bonds and relationships. I also live my faith by reading the Book of Mormon every day, listening to conference twice a year, going to church weekly, attending the temple, and attending other activities in my ward. I am going to serve a mission as an expression of my faith and gratitude for my Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ and all they have done for me. I want other to know of the happiness and love that this gospel can bring.

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

Katie Church
We believe in life after death and returning to heaven where God lives and will eventually live with those who do God's will and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. The purpose of this life is a probationary time where we prepare to meet God (Alma 12:24) and this gives us hope because we can live with God in a state of never-ending happiness if we have chosen to obey Jesus Christ (Mosiah 2:41). Jesus Christ died for us and performed the atonement so that we could repent and be forgiven of our sins and return to live with our Father in Heaven. Part of performing the atonement was overcoming spiritual and physical death. Overcoming spiritual death means that through Christ we can repent and become clean again. Overcoming physical death happened when Christ was resurrected three days after his crucifixion. Because of his selfless act, we all have the opportunity to be resurrected after we die. When we are resurrected, when the time comes we will all be judged according to the works we performed on this earth. Eternal life is the quality of life that our Heavenly Father lives in. Once we are resurrected, if we have done all that was asked of us and lived a worthy life, we will be able to live in Eternal Life with our Father in Heaven as well. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Katie Church
Faith is believing in something that you can't see (Alma 32:21). Faith for me is knowing God is there and available to help me progress and overcome challenges even though I can't see Him. Faith is trusting God and putting your support behind Him when others question or wonder for themselves. Faith isn't something that happens overnight, It is something that you continually work at. Fatih has helped me through so much in my life because I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have been there for me and we can do all things through them. Show more Show less
