Hi I'm Hannah

I grew up in a small town in the USA. I love riding my bike with my family. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I come from a big family and love to spend time with them. I lived in Mexico and the Philippines with my family when I was younger. I love old fashioned things like going for walks, spinning wool, cross-stitching, braiding rugs and writing letters. I am going to college in search of a degree in Web Development. I have been in musicals and plays including Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I have also been involved in several different choirs and love to sing. I am also learning to play the guitar and piano. Also, my family always says I use the word "also" too much. Oh well!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I have found it makes me happy. I was born in Utah as a descendant of some of the first members of the church. They sacrificed a lot so that I could be born in a mormon community. Some of them lost parents and children in following the Prophet. One had her toes cut off because she got terrible frost bite in coming out west. My ancestors left comfort in the cities and moved with nothing for us. When asked if it was worth it, my Grandma Pay (whose toes were cut off) said it was. She wanted her children and children's children to be raised in the happiness the gospel brings. And I was. There have been times that I doubted and even chose not to do as my ancestors did despite growing up hearing about their faith as my bedtime stories. But, those times in my life were always sadder and darker than when I go to church and live what we are taught. There is a light and a joy in going to church and living it. So, I'm a mormon because it makes me happy. I've tried with and without being a mormon, and like with, like my ancestors did.

How I live my faith

I am a branch missionary in my congregation. I help out by reaching to people who miss meetings to make sure they are okay and make sure they are aware of activities and meetings we have coming up. I also reach out to people who seem to be interested so they feel welcome and at home with us even though they are new. I find lots of friends in doing this. It's interesting, by serving as a missionary I talk to people I might be afraid to talk to otherwise. It can be hard to talk to people I don't know or people who saw me as the dork I was in high school (since I live in a small time, this is often the case). But when I go talk to them, I often find we have more in common than I expected and there's a lot to talk about! It's really cool!
