Hi I'm Dari

I come from a blended family. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been called to serve as a full-time missionary in Australia, but when I'm not serving our Lord with my whole heart, might, mind, and strength... I'm a college student studying communication. When I'm procrastinating my homework, I binge-watch historical dramas and crime mysteries. My ideal day starts at 7 am; includes a horse ride, just a dab of hard farm work, plenty of playing with my little brothers, a touch of baking, a large scoop of organizing and schedule/list making, one big family dinner, and a good novel to put me to bed by 10:30.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of Mormons, but I haven't always been converted to Christ's true church. Every person has to build a testimony for themselves whether they have a childhood spent singing "I'm a Child of God" or wondering who they are; God knows each of us and has a plan for all of His children. I was taught of this plan all my life, but until I really began to follow the council of prophets to study diligently and pray fervently, having a pure desire to know of Christ, I wasn't converted to His gospel. I went to classes on Sunday, attended church youth activities, and all the while wondered, why? Being Mormon was just what my family did. Having been surrounded by the Holy Ghost all my life I didn't seek for more. Then as I became a teenager I started a roller coaster of highs and lows, in which I now see the lows were times of disobedience to the commandments of God, the council of His modern prophet. As I began college I was still on this roller coaster, perhaps coming the lowest I've ever been. Only a few weeks in I felt tired and lost--hopeless--so I turned to where I had always been taught. I sat inside the temple that day praying and reading, asking God why and how I could really know that the faith of my fathers wasn't misplaced. There were no visions, nor voices, nor coincidences. Only Peace. Nevertheless, I went forward from that day praying, studying, desiring daily, and line by line, moment by moment, day by day, I felt a brightness inside of me begin to grow. And one day I no longer wondered, I knew. I knew God lives and loves me. He sent His son Jesus Christ who died for me. Together these perfect beings appeared to a young boy who like me had wondered. Through this boy God restored His church on this earth and through His church souls are brought unto Christ that they might "taste of the exceeding joy of which I did taste; that they might also be born of God, and be filled with the Holy Ghost" (Alma 36:24).

How I live my faith

Living my faith is an every-day thing: it's daily and consistent prayer to a loving Heavenly Father, daily study of the words of God given through His prophets of old and now, and acts of love and compassion in every encounter and thought. There's balance in this because without the former two I certainly could not accomplish the latter!
