Hi I'm Mykala

I'm from Eastern Idaho. I love making people laugh, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a freshman at Idaho State University. I love learning, especially about topics related to psychology. I believe in being positive and making people laugh. I love spending time with my family and my all time favorite role is being an aunt to my adorable nephews. In high school, I ran cross country and track and I love watching almost every sport imaginable. I'm the girl who ends up losing her voice at basketball and football games.

Why I am a Mormon

Mormon is a nickname that was given to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints based on an additional book of scripture that is another testament of Jesus Christ in addition to the Holy Bible, i.e. The Book of Mormon, which we believe was written by prophets and translated by Joseph Smith, who was also a prophet called by God. I grew up going to church with my family but that is not why I am a member. I am a Mormon because of the great gift of agency. Through studying the standard works of Christ's church (Holy Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price), praying to my Heavenly Father with a sincere desire to know if the things I am studying are true, and by listening and heeding the words of latter-day prophets and apostles I have come to know that I am a child of God, we are all children of God, and these things which we learn about Christ and his church are true. I am a Mormon because I have seen the blessings that come from being obedient to Christ's teachings. I am a Mormon because Christ has helped me to understand that I have a purpose in this life. I am a Mormon because this gospel has brought me peace, comfort, and guidance in my life that I could receive no other way save it were through my Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I believe in playing an active role in bringing myself and others unto our Savior Jesus Christ. The Savior went about doing good during all of his mortal life and so as children of our Heavenly Father, we should follow that example. In my ward I currently serve as a ward missionary, meaning that I am a part of seeking out those who are in my ward, or even outside of it, or who are not of my faith, and helping them with anything that they might need. Serving others brings me so much happiness, even on my worst days. Making people smile and providing them with a little relief from the stresses of the world is how I live my faith. And in doing this, I not only become closer to those people around me, but also I strengthen my relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am currently preparing to serve an 18 month mission in Dallas, Texas and I leave in July 2018. A mission is not required of members, but it is a way for me to show my love for my Savior and Heavenly Father, and to better serve God's children, who are my heavenly brothers and sisters.
