Hi I'm Charlee

I am a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

About Me

My name is Charlee! I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Germany Berlin Mission! I think it's really neat to get to say that I am a missionary in Germany, as several of my mom and dad's ancestors are from Germany and I really love family history. Personally, though, I grew up in the Ahwatukee Foothills area of Phoenix Arizona before moving with my family to Star Idaho when I was 12 years old. My immediate family consists of my mom (who has been a member of the church my entire life) and my dad (never a member), my sister, four dogs, and as of recently my grandma and cousin who also live with us (neither of whom are currently members). Although they are not all members, they all have played a crucial role in helping me become the person I am today, and for that I will always be grateful. The main activity I have found myself involved in is debate- specifically policy debate and extemporaneous speaking. I've gone to several camps during the summer and competitions throughout the year, all the way to State and Nationals 3 times. Before embarking on my mission I attended Brigham Young University-Provo, where I hope to return after my mission as well. Some of my hobbies include swimming, singing, playing piano, wakeboarding, drawing, reading, debate, and learning new things. In high school some of my other activities included 4-H and Sports Medicine, whereas in college I intend to study Business with hopefully a minor in Film or something.

Why I am a Mormon

I have to mention that I am a Mormon in great part because of the examples of many other Mormons, both family and friends, and their personal testimonies and examples. I think the best way to put it is that they did not give me my testimony, but they helped give me the courage to act on promptings so that I could receive a testimony for myself. I am a Mormon because I have faith in this Church and its teachings. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ as I have read it and truly felt the spirit testify that what is written inside is true. I also know that the priesthood we have on the earth today is the same priesthood that Christ had in his time, and that we have it because it was restored to Joseph Smith by prophets from Christ's time and before. I know that we have a prophet on the earth today who has truly been called of God to lead and guide his church.

How I live my faith

I think the main way I work to live my faith is through service. I think that is a crucial aspect of living our faith, as our faith centers around Christ and Christ consistently showed great examples of service throughout his life. So whether it is baking cookies, bringing plants, volunteering in more formal Humanitarian activities, or even just reaching out to say hi to someone I feel could use it, I really seek to do what I can. Another thing I have had the great opportunity to do is work in the Temple to assist with the sacred ordinances that take place there. I worked the early shift, 5:15-11:15 am Wednesday mornings, which at times was really hard but always was worth it. Now that I am a full-time missionary the main way I live my faith is by seeking to serve others even more diligently and working to bring them into Christ to be baptized and confirmed into his church on the earth today.
