Hi I'm Joseph Cherrington

I was born and raised in Idaho. I taught Music in the public schools of Idaho and Utah for 40+ years. "I'm a Mormon."

About Me

I am a retired public school teacher. I just loved my work as an educator and I always told people that some day I would quit playing around and get a job. I never did. I retired and now I am living the dream of being a father of 9 children and soon we will have our 25th grandchild. I taught music and I love to listen to all types of music. I like my music to be positive and talk about the good things in life. That really raises my spirit and makes me appreciate the beautiful things that are around me. I sing and that talent has taken me all over the world. I have performed for Kings, Presidents, and dignitaries all over. I have had major roles in over 15 Musicals and Operas I was so busy with music in my life that I didn't have much time to be on sports teams in school but I just love watching good sporting events and rodeos. Usually my admittance to these events was because I was asked to sing the National Anthem so I got in for free.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church. Both of my parents were very active members of the church and my Father was one of the local leaders of the church. Dad also taught Seminary for the LDS church along with his farming. I was taught the principles of the Gospel and taught about Jesus Christ and what He did for me so that I might enjoy the freedom from sins that I had committed if I only would repent and Trust in Him. I never committed any serious sins or crimes because they were not in my nature but all of us make mistakes and when I made a mistake I soon realized it and I would do everything I could to make it right. The summer I was 16 my mother died from illness and that left me without one of my best friends. The church teaches us of the eternal nature of families and that we will be resurrected after we die and live with our families throughout eternity if we are obedient to the principles and ordinances of the Gospel. I loved and missed my mother and I was taught that if I lacked wisdom and knowledge I could pray to God and He would let me know through the power of the Holy Ghost if what I lacked was right. I decided to pray and ask Heavenly Father if I would get to be with my mother again and I got the sweetest feeling in my Heart that I would be with her again.

How I live my faith

I am so glad to be a Mormon. There are teachings that help me to be and stay healthy. The word of wisdom as we call it helps me understand that there are certain foods that I shouldn't eat because they are harmful to my body. My obedience to the word of wisdom has kept me out of the Hospital. I just love the Book of Mormon and so I read from it daily. Sunday is my day of rest and I enjoy attending church with my neighbors and family. I am retired now and have some extra time so I like to spend it working in the LDS temple nearby. I spend one day a week as an ordinance worker at the temple and then I like to visit the Temple regularly and attend the meetings held there. I have been a member of the city council in my city where I live.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Joseph Cherrington
We do not worship Joseph Smith. We worship God our Eternal Father and Jesus Christ. We acknowledge Joseph Smith as a prophet and the man who restored to the earth the ancient truths of the divine Gospel. Through the power of God he translated the Book of Mormon and he was instrumental in restoring many of the lost truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
