Hi I'm Renee Hansen

I'm a mom to five great kids and their awesome spouses. I am a grandmother to 16 grandchildren. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Salt Lake City Utah. My parents did not go to church but my brothers and sister did and so they would take me to church and to Primary. After I was married we moved to Germany. We were welcomed with open arms to the military branch in Heilbronn Germany. It was a growing experience like no other and my testimony grew in leaps and bounds and I knew how I wanted to live the rest of my life. We left Germany and moved to Kansas and then to New Jersey and then to Colorado. Eventually, my five children and myself moved home to Salt Lake. We needed to be by family and start life over again. Life was hard but eventually it was wonderful. Four of my five children served a mission and the daughter who didn't serve a mission was married to a wonderful man. All she ever wanted to do was be married. I am lucky enough to have 16 grandchildren and they all play different sports. Baseball, soccer, swimming, water polo, dance and now volleyball. My nights, especially in the summer, are filled with games of every type. That is my hobbie and it makes me happy. Sometimes I come home very tired but I love watching my grandkids accomplish these things. Family is everything. I wear a "mom's" ring on my left hand so I guess you could say I am married to my children. haha I hope I can laugh in a profile. If not then it is not me because I laugh all the time unless I am crying. Just kidding.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon at the age of nine. My dad didn't want me to be baptized at age eight because he thought I was to young to make that decision but I begged and begged until he finally gave in and I was baptized. My parents did not go to church but I did go by myself and I had friends and their families who took me in. My parents were good parents but didn't want anything to do with the church. I have been told many times that I am a rebellious soul and so I guess I rebelled against my parents lifestyle. I hated smoking and I hated drinking. It just never seemed like a good idea to me. Eventually I went to Ricks College (now BYU Idaho) and that was when I really started to understand the church and gain a testimony of the Gospel. There was just a feeling when I was around my friends families, return missionaries and anyone who had the light of the Gospel in their lives. I wanted that in my life. But I had many things to learn and I am still learning. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I have a loving Heavenly Father who knows me and loves me. There have been many small miracles in my life that have proven that to me. I know that Jesus is the Christ and he paid for my many sins and transgressions in the Garden of Gethsemane. He suffered on the cross and he was resurrected on the third day. This opened the door for all of us to be able to return to live with our Heavenly Father someday. Keeping the commandments and living the principles of the gospel is the most important thing to me. It gives me daily peace. It brings joy into my life and even though I have had trials I have been reassured by the Holy Ghost that it will be okay. What a wonderful way to live my life.

How I live my faith

I participate in my church activities and neighborhood activities. Once a year our neighborhood has a summer party and we gather outside at someone's home and invite the old neighborhood people and all the new people who have moved in. We have a mixture of old and young people so it is a fun party. There are five women in my church that a friend and I visit once a month. We check to make sure they are doing okay. If they have been ill or had a hospital procedure, we bring in a meal if they would like one and then we report to out church leader if there are any problems that we cannot handle. I love visiting these sweet ladies.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Renee Hansen
All you have to do is watch a sunrise or a sunset. Look at the trees and the beautiful flowers. I love the mountains and I have driven through the plains of the mid west. When I go to the ocean I feel a peace that I cannot describe. A newborn baby is the most precious gift from God. Proof that there is a God is everywhere you look. I know with every fiber of my being that there is a God and he has created this beautiful world for us to live. Show more Show less
