Hi I'm Shintaro

I'm Half Japanese. I love to play American Football. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love my Japanese Culture! I love the food, the people, everything. I was fortunate enough to be taught how to speak, read, and write the language from my Japanese mother. I love playing football and it is my favorite sport! I love working out in the weight room and I like to see the progress I make. I'm also a college student athlete trying to work hard to earn a scholarship.

Why I am a Mormon

My father was an inactive member of the church and mother was not a member when I was little. After my father and my mother had me and my sister, my father felt that he needed to become active again in the church. I remember growing up and having the missionaries come over to our little apartment and seeing them share the gospel of Christ to my mother. She eventually wanted to join the church and be baptized. I remember very well seeing my mother going in to the baptismal fount and being baptized. I remember I was 7 at the time and I knew that in a year I would be able be baptized like my mother. I'm very grateful for my parents example. Recently I was struggling with trials in my life and I felt that there was no way I could over come them. At this time in my life I remember my Bishop telling me to read a general conference (October 2017) talk by President Nelson called, "The Book of Mormon: What would your life be like without it?" I felt the Spirit strongly prompt me to watch the video of this talk and also read the talk. I was able to find guidance in the talk and read his testimony of the Book of Mormon. In the talk he made a specific promise that really stood out to me. He said, " I promise that as you prayerfully study the Book of Mormon every day, you will make better decisions- every day. I promise that as you ponder what you study, the windows of heaven will open, and you will receive answers to your own questions and direction for you own life. I promise that as you daily immerse yourself in the Book of Mormon, you can be immunized against the evils of the day..." So I decided from that day on that I would see if his promise would hold true. I can honestly say that every single promise that he has stated has come true in my life. I know that reading the Book of Mormon prayerfully and intently will help us over come trials and struggles in our life. I know that your life will be blessed as you continue to faithfully read the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am a home teacher to a couple of families in our ward. One of the sisters that I home teach has cancer so my companion and I will go mow her lawn or shovel her snow. We try to help her out as much as we can. I am a real believer in service, and the blessings that can come from it. Serving others can help bless your life just as much as the person you are serving. Also it shows a good example to others of what we should do to help others.
