Hi I'm Mary

I was born in Michigan. I am a meme enthusiast. I am a future missionary. I am a singer. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Mary. I am 20 years old. I grew up in the church in a little cookie-cutter, vanilla family of five girls and no boys. I have always had a love for singing, painting, poetry, and the arts, and expressing emotion in any other creative way that I can find. I have been studying commerical music education at college for the past two years, and recently decided that I wanted take a break to serve an LDS mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have tried NOT being one, and have experienced for myself what it is like to live without the knowledge of Heavenly Father's plan for me. And I do not dare live without God's gospel and the peace and promises that He offers us through the Atonement, ever again. The blessings are too great, and so the sacrifices that I make daily to be a member of this church, even in this ever-changing world are SO WORTH IT. Growing up in a family who went to church every week, it was difficult for me to gain my own strong testimony. And growing up, I was always the type of girl who wanted to touch the hot pan for myself to make sure it was actually hot. I was the black sheep of my family because of that. But once I went to college and was on my own, that was when I truly found God and Jesus Christ. They became my best friends. Because of their influence, and because of the inexplainable happiness I have found through faithfully following them, I now get to share that happiness with the people I serve on my mission, which is ultimately HIS mission. Nothing brings greater, more lasting joy to my life than this church. And nothing brings greater joy than being able to share that joy with others.

How I live my faith

I love that this church provides so many amazing opportunities for spiritual growth no matter who you are, what your age, or where you come from. In my life, I have been blessed to be able to hold many leadership positions in this church. I know that these callings come from the Lord. And because of that, I know that it is my duty to be an instrument in his hands as I serve where I am needed. Through fulfilling different callings throughout my participation in the church, I have been able to see the hand of God in my life more than ever before, and he has giving me a glimpse of how he feels for and loves his children. My faith has been strengthened and continues to be strengthened as I humble myself and come unto him in prayer to know how I can best serve humbly.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Ask in prayer if He is truly there and if you are his child and if he loves you. Study his words in the scriptures. Listen to modern day prophets and apostles testimonies to help gain a testimony of your own. Act in faith. Show your willingness to serve and obey the Lord's commandments and you will be blessed beyond what you can imagine. Listen to the Spirit as you become converted unto the Lord. It will tell you the things that are most important above all. Show more Show less
