Hi I'm Peter Ovard

I grew up in and around the Salt Lake Valley in Utah, I love listening to and playing music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Before I was called to serve a mission for the Church, I attended college for a semester, beginning work towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I've been a band nerd since middle school, playing clarinet and saxophone for Jazz and Classical music. I was also the Drum Major in my high school's marching band (no, I didn't play drums) and think the most beautiful sights and sounds are those of a professional marching band. I just started learning to play guitar, (there aren't many clarinets laying around that people would let me play, *shrug* so I made do) but I'm too stubborn to pick up piano. I'm a HUUGE Star Wars nerd, and I play well with others like LOTR, Harry Potter, Disney, and Marvel. I like fashion from 100 years ago (newsboy caps came back because of THIS GUY *points at self*) I'm a lifeguard and swim teacher, so know you aren't very sneaky when you break the rules. I am an Eagle scout, and grew to love hiking, camping, and playing with fire because of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I grew up in the church. Both of my parents are LDS and very supportive of my siblings and I as follow the standards of the gospel. Despite growing up in the church, I still worked and continue to work hard developing a testimony (personal witness) of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Church means so much more to me than just meetings and talks of religion, it has brought me closer to everyone around me, helping me form strong relationships with friends, family, neighbors, and most importantly our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I'm currently a Ward Missionary and serve with my Dad every week, and we also home teach together. This calling has been great in preparing me to serve as a full time missionary in a couple of months, and I'm excited to learn more about the gospel! The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra are the best, and I hope to play with the Orchestra one day. I love to serve others around me, sometimes a simple smile or goofy action can clear the storm clouds over someones day! I don't do much around my community, but I do my best to support where I can.
