Hi I'm Irene

I'm an athlete. I'm a school counselor. I'm a mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to do hard things. Over a decade ago I began rowing when I lived near New York City. It went from hobby, to avocation to obsession. When I moved back to Utah, I decided to challenge myself mentally rather than physically and returned to graduate school after being away for 30+ years. I successfully graduated and have now launched my last child off to college and launched a new career I love. Life is about continuing to grow, and I'm grateful I have had the opportunities I have had to do so.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that we are beings of light. It is more difficult for me to believe that people with all their needs for love and fairness and good happened by accident than it is for me to believe that there is something divine behind all we see. I have lived with the Gospel and without it, and the truth of the principles taught speaks to my soul. I am a better human being for believing and following Christ.

How I live my faith

I have learned that when Christ taught the doctrine that if you lose yourself in service, you will find yourself is the essence of happiness. I have been blessed to be a part of a church community that takes care of each other and supports in ways most people don't have the opportunity to experience. I teach the youth in Sunday School as well as organise social activities for our congregation. When I am serving others, I am more grateful and happier.
