Hi I'm Holden

I grew up in Idaho in the United States. I love to read and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

One of my favorite things to do is read and talk about books with other people. This is why I'm studying English at college. In high school, I participated in our school orchestra and Speech and Debate team which was a lot of fun and I met a lot of great people. I love music too. I play the cello and the piano which helps me relax and find beauty in music. Studying cultures and people is something I like to do too. I like learning about history and linguistics which helps me understand people and what is important to them.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the joy it brings into my life. The teachings of Christ helps me become a better person. It teaches me about love and kindness and it helps me overcome my shortcomings. The gospel is hope. I know that I can be with my family forever and that everyone can find forgiveness and joy within the church no matter what. What really changed my life was recognizing God's love for all of his children. One of my favorite stories from the scriptures is when God is speaking to one of his prophets named Enoch, and God looks out onto the world and sees the suffering and pain of all of us, His children, and he begins to weep. Even though God is almighty, all-knowing, and so perfect, he chooses to love us and He cries with us. That love is why I'm a Mormon and that is what fills me with hope.

How I live my faith

Teaching about what I love about my religion is one way I live my faith. I'll have discussions with my friends and family about different topics of our faith which helps me understand it better. I've been able to perform some musical numbers during our meetings which have been a lot of fun. I've also had the opportunity to serve my peers by helping organize activities and service projects for people in our community.
