Hi I'm Robert H. Burgoyne II

I grew up in the Western U.S. I'm an attorney by Education, but spent my career in the Reinsurance business. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

An attorney by education, I followed a business career in Underwriting Reinsurance (Insurance of Insurance) for major disasters including Hurricanes, Earthquakes and the like. I am now retired and enjoy worldwide travel and my interests include swimming, music and film. I have been very happily married for over 48 years and our posterity includes 6 children, 26 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. My family is very important to me and my thoughts and time are spent in pursuing quality relationships with both family members and friends. l

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon Church) because of I received a witness (testimony) that it is indeed the Church organized by the Savior through the Prophet Joseph Smith following his communication with God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. This wonderful event took place in upstate New York in the early years of the 19th Century and followed a period of time where the Gospel in it's fullness had been lost from the earth for period of time. Joseph Smith's calling as a prophet came as a result of his asking God in prayer which of the many churches of the time were right. God responded that none of them had the complete truth and that if he was faithful, Joseph would be instrumental in being the facilitator of the Restoration of the Gospel in it's fullness by direction and instruction from the Savior Jesus Christ. As a prophet of the Lord, Joseph Smith translated a companion to the Bible, known as the Book of Mormon, which is a compilation of the history of early inhabitants of the Americas, as recorded by their religious leaders. Under the Lord's direction, Joseph then organized the Church exactly as it existed at the time of the Lord's personal ministry with living apostles and prophets as it's foundation and Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone. Through study of the Book of Mormon and prayer, I have received a personal testimony through the power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus is the Christ, that the Book of Mormon is indeed the word of God and that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in it's fullness through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints is true and is guided today by living prophets and apostles. I invite all to come unto Christ through receiving their own testimony of these truths through personal prayer and study. I declare this testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

How I live my faith

I have a strong belief in Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. My over-arching desire is to serve God by serving others-- by helping them to improve their lives and to reach their God-given potential. First and foremost, I make my wife, children and grandchildren my top priority. After that, I spend additional time in service to others through church assignments. As such, I have had many opportunities to work in various capacities with both youth and adults to increase their knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Plan of Happiness for all mankind. This service includes assisting current members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints (Mormon) and also sharing my faith with those of different backgrounds.
