Hi I'm Rylee Smullin

I have a passion for life. I have a passion for health. I'm a P.E. teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Washington and raised most of my life in Idaho. I come from a very diverse family situation making me the oldest of 6 siblings. I enjoy being outdoors and working out. I have a passion for helping others improve their lives physically and mentally. I am currently a P.E. teacher for grades 2-8, but have plans to serve a LDS mission in June. I love interacting with people from all life stages and relating to them. I know ASL and love using that language to communicate with my younger brother who is non-verbal. I graduate from BYU Hawaii with my associates and am working towards my Personal Trainers Certificate and Bachelors for teaching P.E. I also find it fun coming up with creative ways to make my worst days other peoples best. I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a youth, I didn't always go to church or read my scriptures for the right reasons. I sometimes felt like my parents were forcing me to go, sometimes dragging me to youth group on Wednesdays. This can be very common when you are born and raised in the church. There comes a time however, that all of us have to decide whether this gospel is really one we believe in and will follow to the end. That came for me my first year of college. I had the opportunity to be on an island away from home and totally on my own accountability. I had to choose whether I wanted to do the small things daily to strengthen my faith, or to continue on the path of rebellion. I was humbled. I chose to follow Christ because looking back when I was totally obedient, that's when life felt like it went a little better. I am a Mormon because I believe that I am the best version of myself when I am following what the Lord wants me to do. I am a Mormon because I feel like I have a greater impact for good on lives around me when I live the gospel fully. I am a Mormon because I have received confirmation that that is what the Lord would have me be. I know that he has helped guide my life every step of the way to help me become the person I am now. I know that he has a plan for me, and that knowledge and comfort comes from what the church teaches. I am a Mormon because everything inside of me tells me that this is the best thing that I could be while on this earth. I love this gospel with all of my heart, and cannot wait to share it with those on my mission. I know the messages that are taught are inspired from God and he is all knowing. I know that Joseph Smith restored the greatest blessing to man on earth. I know that if I follow in faith, my life will be everything I hoped for and more, because when we align our will with God's then all will work out for the best. I am a Mormon. I leave this humble testimony to grow my own and others, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I have loved being more involved in my faith these past couple of years. As a youth, I was very involved in music. I wanted to go to college to be a choir teacher. So I was blessed with the calling of Ward choir director and ward chorister for several years, even into my first year of college. That was an enriching experience for me to share my love for music and the gospel with those in my ward. Recently I have had the opportunity to attend the temple every Friday, this has helped me grow in my relationship with Christ. I have made personal scripture study a bigger priority and have filled my extra time with uplifting and wholesome books and music to help my worship. I strive everyday to dress in a manner that represents a disciple of Christ. I find that when I am working on the little things that the Lord has asked me to do, living my faith becomes a lot more enticing.
