Hi I'm Ian

I'm a husband, I'm an engineer, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and I'm currently working as a research and development engineer for a medical devices company. My wife and I live in a home near both of our families. I lived in France for a couple of years after high school and enjoyed the language, the people, the culture, the history, and of course, the food (particularly pastries).

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the principles of the church have always helped propel me to improve and to live in a way that will keep me free from negative consequences of poor decisions. Particularly as I lived in France, I learned a lot about others' lifestyles and beliefs and what helps drive them in this life. I saw a lot of heartbreak when people didn't live up to the same standards I had been taught through the church; I also saw a lot of triumph from improvements many people made by determining their standards and living them. When I could compare those that were successful and happy in life to those that were struggling, I often saw that living the Gospel of Jesus Christ (whether or not they were Mormon) was the difference for those that excelled. So far, I've found the Church of Jesus Christ teaches all of those principles that will help me excel in this life.

How I live my faith

I'm active in my participation with my church and I serve as a secretary in a presidency for an organization / sunday school specifically for adult men. Generally, our presidency and our organization are interested in serving our neighborhood and community. We often organize "Day of Service" events to help clean-up yards, we are on-hand to help people move in and out of our neighborhood, and we try to strengthen each other spiritually. I'm certainly not a perfect guy, but I do my best to live as an example of what my church teaches and what the savior taught. There are always ways for me to make corrections and to continue to work to improve myself and my life.
