Hi I'm Blake

Missionary currently serving in the Salta, Argentina Mission. I'm A Mormon.

About Me

I am preparing to serve a mission in the Salta, Argentina mission. I live in Houston and have been a member of the church my whole life since I was born into it.

Why I am a Mormon

Heavenly Father has a plan for all of His children, and it's an important part of my testimony that we are all His children and were created in His own precise image. God is not an animal, a metamorphic force, or an uncaring being who controls our life. Instead, I know that he is our compassionate loving father who is in our own express image, and that his Eldest Son, Jesus Christ, is our older brother and savior. I know that the end of our life on Earth is not the end, and that death is not be be feared by the righteous, but embraced, for if we are confident in our faith and testimony, we have no reason to doubt that we won't see our friends and family members pass on. The plan of Salvation is the whole reason we are on Earth, and in this life, there's definitely enough to distract us from that plan. I am a Mormon because it reminds me of that plan and benefits my life every day.

How I live my faith

I volunteer locally by working with The American Red Cross, Boy Scouts, and Mormon Helping Hands here in the Houston area. Just in the past year of 2017 we have helped thousands of flood victims who have lost their homes by fixing their houses, providing food and shelter and rebuilding their communities. I was active in volunteering over the summer and fall by helping close to a dozen homes rebuild after Hurricane Harvey struck Houston and caused flooding. By seeing how others live when they have nothing left reminds me of the love that Christ has for all of us and inspires me to strive to live like him every day.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

God has called prophets to lead His Church in our day, just as He did anciently. The current prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Russell M. Nelson. He is assisted by two counselors—Dallin H. Oaks and Henry B. Eyring. Together, they make up the First Presidency of the Church (much like Peter, James, and John after Christ’s death). All members of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are apostles and prophets. The current Apostles are: M. Russell Ballard (President of the Quorum) Jeffrey R. Holland Dieter F. Uchtdorf David A. Bednar Quentin L. Cook D. Todd Christofferson Neil L. Anderson Ronald A. Rasband Gary E. Stevenson Dale G. Renlund Show more Show less
