Hi I'm Alissa

Hi there! I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or you could say I am a Mormon.

About Me

Well, I love to read pretty much whatever I can get my hands on. I'm particularly a fan of Mark Twain. When I'm not immersed in a story I like to be outside hiking, riding horses, working with my hands, or just talking with a friend. I'm not a fan of large gatherings of people, but prefer a small group or a one on one setting.

Why I am a Mormon

When one is raised in the gospel you would think that their reason for sticking to it is because it is all they know. That's not the case with me. If for one moment I believed that what I was taught every day of my life was all a magnificent and terrible lie, I would remove it. There is only room in my life for truth and light, and this gospel is where I have found those things. In this, the Church of Jesus Christ, I have found peace not because I grew up with it and have become comfortable with it, but because I have learned for my self, over years of study and honest searching, that there is only one God and one true church, His church.

How I live my faith

I like to think I embody this thought by Elder Bednar, who visited my stake a little while back to speak with the members, he said "Let your weirdness work for you." Meaning that what makes us strange in the eyes of the world is precisely what will inspire others to learn more about why we are the way we are. Our "weirdness" becomes a tool to share the gospel.
