Hi I'm Olivia Nielsen

I grew up in Kansas and Utah (USA). I have been called to serve in the Russia Novosibirsk Mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a university student at Brigham Young University in Utah, and I have been called to serve in the Russia Novosibirsk mission and am leaving in May. I love to go biking, hiking and to be outdoors. I enjoy being with friends and family and serving others. I started playing the piano when I was 8 years old and love to play, especially in church. I am also very interested in Art History and have studied it for a number of years. I thoroughly enjoy traveling and have been to a number of countries around the world including France, England, Italy, Germany and Nicaragua. I love meeting new people and learning about others' interests and beliefs.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the peace and the joy that I have felt through learning and living the teachings of Jesus Christ. I know that he lived and that he will live again here on earth. I have been a member of the church for my whole life and I am grateful everyday for the guidance and comfort that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has brought to me. Through Christ we can be washed clean of our sins and be forgiven. God has a plan for each of us and I know that through living a Christlike life and striving to do good, I can live again with my family for time and all eternity. I have chosen to serve a mission and dedicate 18 months of my life to God and Jesus Christ because I want to be able to share the happiness and peace that I have felt because of the blessings of following the commandments. I want to share the glad message that we can live again with our families and that there is life after death. Because of Christ's great sacrifice we can be healed of all our grievances and sin and be forgiven. I am grateful for a loving God who is our literal Father in Heaven, and the opportunity that I have every day to connect with him through prayer. I am a Mormon because when I live the teachings of Christ, I am happier, more at peace, and I have the opportunity to progress beyond my own ability in this life.

How I live my faith

I am currently the ward music director in my Young Single Adult ward. I love being able to coordinate musical numbers as well as participating in performing to help others to come closer to Christ. This assignment has allowed me to learn more about my Savior and feel his love through the power of music. Starting in May 2018 I will be living my faith in Novosibirsk, Russia where I will be serving a full time mission as a volunteer.
