Hi I'm Makai

I'm Samoan-American. I've been called to serve as a full-time missionary in the California Bakersfield mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a small island in the Pacific, beaches and everything. I prefer to be closer to the ocean, if just to be able to look out at it. I've never liked the idea of being in just one place forever, especially when there are so many amazing places on this Earth to see! My dream is to travel the world, and bring my loved ones with me, to experience the grandeur and magnitude of Heavenly Father's creations. I don't come from an overly wealthy background, but I aspire to study and work until I can provide for all of my family, and help fund charities and community services to better the lives of my brothers and sisters, so they won't have to go without the same opportunities I and my family before me did. In my free time I draw, write/listen to music, hang out with friends, or just catch up on TV shows. I try not to miss a chance to bare my testimony and show my gratitude for having the truth and light of the gospel in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a part of this faith because of the spirit I feel when I attend church, when I study the scriptures, when I pray, when I hear the words of the prophet, and when I slow down so I can begin to notice and remember the countless blessings I have in my life. I know this gospel is true because that same spirit has confirmed to my, by my faithful and prayerful studying of the Book of Mormon, that it is the word of God. I testify that Joseph Smith was a true, modern-day prophet, and that he did restore Christ's true church in its fullness to the Earth, to never again be taken away. I testify that this church is where any and every person will find truth and peace. He asks for a heart filled with humility, in exchange for one filled with joy and love. I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

During times when I didn't have the spirit as my companion every day, and I wasn't attending church meetings, I still found cherishing the feeling of giving to a brother or sister less fortunate than myself. My dad had taught me that if ye we ask, we shall receive, so if when our brothers and sisters ask of us, who are we to say they shall not receive? I've served as an assistant clerk in my congregation, and have helped organize and direct a number of activities for the youth and young adults in the church. What I've enjoyed most about serving the members of my church as well as people who aren't members, is getting people to come together and have a good time, make new friends, and leave knowing that they are a part of a family that loves and cares about them.
