Hi I'm Kara Rasmussen

I was born and raised as a Mormon in Utah, and successfully gained a testimony of my own of this beautiful restored gospel.

About Me

I am a college student still searching for my carreer path who loves to play sports whenever possible even though I tend to be bad at them, and create mediocre art. I also adore spending time in nature especially when with friends, despite how many times I trip over my own feet. Our world is so gorgeous!! One of the things I enjoy most in life though is playing with puppies. Dogs make everything better.

Why I am a Mormon

I have recieved so much strength, guidance, and beeming happiness from knowing that I am a unique and devine creation loved by my Heavenly Father, and so is every single person on this planet. Knowing that all he wants is for me to be happy and to come back to him. That is why he gave me and every last one of his children a plan to achieve everlasting happiness. Through this plan, we can be with our families forever! We can live life to the fullest! I have never thought of our commandments as restrictions. I think of them more as safty rails which guard us from certain forms of addiction, disease, and temptation. I am not being forced to keep these promises, it is my choice to live in a way that makes me unbelievably happy. We are not to judge people who don't follow these standards because everyone goes through life a different way! It is more progressive to love and aid people through their trials than to banish them from our kindness. I love this gospel so much because at the center of it, the main principal is to LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY. Just as God loves you. That is how God asks us to serve, is to love our fellow men, and it is so beautiful!! It is not a difficult thing to do. Not only does it bring happiness to the ones you serve, but it warms your heart and fills it with sunshine. Matthew 25:40 "Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." My mom always told me that whenever I was feeling extremely down on myself, or toxically selfconsious, that I should serve others. Make a friend, perhaps with someone who doesn't have any. It makes you both happy, and frees your mind of your troubles. I love this gospel so much and I hope you will find strength and happiness through it too.

How I live my faith

One of my very favorite ways to live the gospel is quite simple, and I don't have to think too hard about doing it now. It is a wonderful habit to form. From this gospel we recognize that every single person on this planet is a child of God! That is why whenever I am not in a rush which I rarely am, I love to make friends. Even with complete strangers. I know this isn't all that special, but I am extremely passionate about it. Getting someone to open up and feel happy brings me happiness!! There is a buddy in everybody. I like to think of people as presents. You can choose to open them or not, but each of them has the potential to offer something beautiful to you! It is especially important to build these kind of simple relationships with those who seem lonely or shy, and to not be afraid to offer even a smile to someone you might be skeptical of. This is how I like to imagine Christ would have lived. He did. He accepted and loved everyone dispite their varying lifestyles knowing their true potential. Every person on this planet has the light of Christ in them. I love to see it glimmer and shine and the best way to see it is to be friendly! Acts of kindness can be very contagious. Smiles are contagious too. Be a light in this world and show love to everyone in it! It is of the most importance that people feel loved, special and accepted, and that is what I strive to do every day.
