Hi I'm Makayla

I attend school at BYU-Idaho and I am going to serve a mission in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I moved around a lot as a kid but for the most part lived in Washington state. My junior and senior year of high school I attended a community college to take all of my classes and participated in track and cross country at the high school. I graduated with my associates degree and went to BYU-Idaho to continue in elementary education! I decided I wanted to serve a mission for the church and got my call to serve in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania starting February 2018. After my mission I would like to continue my schooling in Idaho and possibly go into cosmetology as well. Another thing I look forward to is becoming a mom and being sealed in the temple to a spouse someday.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church is true. I know that after Christ and his apostles all died, there was no one else on the earth holding the priesthood. That meant that we needed to have a restoration in order for the true gospel to return to the earth. I know that Joseph Smith was the one God chose to help in the restoration of the gospel and I am grateful that I am able to live in a day when the church is on the earth and that God has blessed us with his prophets to lead and guide us. I am grateful that Jesus Christ atoned for my sins so that I can repent and return to live with Heavenly Father again after I die. I am a Mormon because I know the plan of happiness that God has for us, and if I am going to believe in anything, I want to believe in a plan like that.

How I live my faith

After I turned 18 and finished the young women's program, I was called to serve in the primary to teach the 5 year old class during Sunday school! It was so much fun and I loved working with the kids. I was only in there for a short time though before I left for school in Idaho. At school I was called to be a Sunday school teacher again! This time though it was with people my age which was scary to teach my peers and not 5 year olds. I ended up loving interacting with people of all ages about the gospel. I think the experience from both callings will support me on my mission while I teach all different kinds of people.
