Hi I'm Taylor Buss

I was raised in Lehi, Utah, and am preparing to serve a mission in the Alpine German-Speaking Mission! I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently going to a year of college before serving my mission, as mentioned in my bio, in the Alpine German-Speakig mission! I enjoy hanging out with my friends, painting (even though I am not anything special) and singing. I am involved my college’s Men’s Choir, and enjoy performing with them!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all my life, but it wasn’t till I was about 14 or 15 that I truly became converted to the gospel. I was close to completing my 9th grade year as well as my first year of seminary, which is basically a class that you take for four years and each year is on different books of scripture. That year was specifically on the Book of Mormon, and towards the end of the book, there is a subsection, written by the compiler of the entire history found within the book, Moroni. He challenges those who read the book to pray to know if the book is true or not, and that if we ask with a sincere heart, truly seeking to know the answer, the Lord will testify that the book is true. So, as the year started to come to a close, we finished up with the final chapters of the book in seminary and my teacher challenged all of us to pray about it. I had never thought to do that, since I had always been in the church. I thought it was true, and I lived the standards of the church, but I never really had been truly converted. That night I knelt down, expecting this big answer, like how everyone seems to report, which is that they have this feeling of a “burning” in their hearts, or a feeling of great love, yet it’s an experience unlike any other at the same. But that night, I received none of that. I prayed, asking sincerely, and all that I got was, “You already know it is true.” I didn’t think that was an answer since I was expecting something big, so I didn’t think I had an answer yet.. It wasn’t until 3 months later when someone was sharing their conversion story and it was extremely similar to mine. I knew then that I had received an answer that night and that the church was truer than true. I knew God was listening that night and had even gone out of his way to show me he had testiefied to me that the church and the Book of Mormon is true. If you have questions, I encourage you to pray with a sincere heart and ask if the church is true. I know God will not let you down.

How I live my faith

I am a Family History Co-Chair in my YSA (Young Single Adults) Ward, which basically I teach the people of our ward during the second hour of our three hour block of church about family history and it’s tools, such as FamilySearch, Ancestry, and other genealogy websites.
