Hi I'm Alexis

I live in Utah. I'm just a regular college student who loves music, sports, and free food. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in Utah my whole life but I've road-tripped all over the country. I have to say, Utah is my (biased) favorite because of the variety of seasons. In the winter, I love to ski on weekends and warm myself with hot chocolate in the evenings. In the summer, camping and backpacking is my thing, and the Utah mountains are just about perfect for that. I am a college student trying to figure out a major and make some new friends in my classes and church. I also love food - especially free food.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my whole life, it wasn't until I moved out and was living on my own, making my own choices, that I was drawn closer to Jesus Christ and gained a witness of the truthfulness of the church. I read the Book of Mormon and went to church like I always had, but now I was doing it for myself. I prayed about the Book of Mormon, asking God if it was true, and I had faith that He wouldn't lead me astray if I relied on Him and desired to know the truth. I received a confirmation over time as I continued to act in faith by attending church, praying, and reading the scriptures. At times, small, warm feelings of love and peace overcame me, telling me God knows me and loves me, and that what I was doing was pleasing Him. I have come to know the Book of Mormon is God's word and that He loves all His children, even me, though I make lots of mistakes and turn away from Him sometimes. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have always been a more reserved person, but I love meeting new people and making new friends. I love my church calling, or church-assigned responsibility, to help plan activities for every Monday night when we all meet together as a church ward. We do a variety of fun things - from scavenger hunts to trivia nights to service activities, and have a little gospel devotional to keep our focus on Jesus Christ. I also live my faith by finding small ways to serve others, which usually just ends up being my roommates, but it feels good to help others, and I know that is what the Savior did when He was on the earth.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

As a soon-to-be missionary, the happiness and joy of drawing closer to Christ and learning more of His gospel is so overwhelming, it's hard to keep to myself. It's like if you read or see a good book or movie and want to tell anyone who will listen about it, only, with the gospel, it's from God, so the feeling is even more pure and powerful. Also, we have the knowledge that families can be together forever, that death isn't the end. Every family deserves a chance to hear that message. Show more Show less
