Hi I'm Mykenzie Slocombe

I was born in Canada, I live in Calgary, Alberta. I am the oldest of five children. I am 19 years old and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of five siblings, but I have four step siblings and one half sister. I really liked theatre and the arts in high school, and I have loved it my whole life. I love music, it has always been a big part of my life. I do not play any instruments, but I love discovering new music. I like to listen to pretty much everything, but if I had to choose I like pop and alternative the most. I have always loved reading, photography, and spending time outdoors. My family and friends are very important to me, I love to spend time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had times in my life, like anybody, where I have felt unsure about my life and where it was going. I have questioned my self worth. But, at many different times in my life, I have felt an undeniably strong and warm feeling in my heart. I know that this is the Holy Ghost. And I know that this is true because I have prayed and asked God, and he has personally given me answers because I have felt it through the warm feeling. I've learned that the Holy Ghost is Jesus Christ comforting me. I have not always believed this throughout my life, and I became truly converted when I was at my lowest, and God was reached out his arms and was there for me. The power of prayer is so important. I know God has reached out to me. I know that my Saviour loves me, and I know that when I am feeling at my lowest Jesus is there for me. He is a comfort to me because he has felt every single feeling that I have felt. I am eternally grateful for the principle of eternal families, that I get to be with them forever. I know that we have a prophet on this earth today who has been called of God, he is a leader. The gospel is a hope, truth, and light. I know in my heart, that it is the most true thing I have ever known. I am thankful I know about it, and I hope every single person can feel joy from it.

How I live my faith

I have been a member my whole life. When I was 16 I helped be a leader to the other girls my age. This included organizing activities and making sure every person feels included. I am currently preparing to be a full time missionary for 18 months for my church, and that will be my most important calling, because I am teaching others to come unto Christ.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Mykenzie Slocombe
No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. But, we do appreciate his service and all he has done for us. Without him, the church would not be developed to where it is today. I am eternally grateful that he restored the true church, but we do not worship him. Show more Show less
