Hi I'm Ellecyn Brimley

I am a sophomore biology major in college. I love science, theatre, and food. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

One thing that I have always loved is science. I am in college right now as a biology major, with plans to be either an OB/GYN or an astrobiologist. I haven't decided on which one quite yet, so it's a great thing that my major works for both! I also really enjoy theatre; I have been in shows at my university as well as my community. One of the most recent shows I did was "Romeo and Juliet" where I got to play the role of Juliet! Being on a stage and captivating an audience is such a thrill and so rewarding. Finally, I love learning in general. I have dabbled in many languages (excelling in French above all), forms of dance and exercise, and read many books.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know it's true after reading and research of my own. I was raised in the Church so I don't have much knowledge of what it is like without the Gospel in my life, but I can get an idea. I started not wanting to be at church or do church activities or even read the scriptures for a few years during middle school and high school. It was boring to me because I didn't understand the significance of religion or what it means to be a Christian. I became more angry, irritable, and sad because I was walking away from Christ, although I didn't think that was the problem at the time. Finally, after reevaluating my life, I made the huge decision to repent and look back to what I was missing out on. I prayed for the desire to learn about the Gospel and for the understanding to realize its significance and to appreciate it. Now, I am infinitely curious about the Gospel as I study every day. I find answers to questions I thought impossible to answer. Having the Book of Mormon and current revelation through our living prophets has given me so much more material to be able to hone in on what the true meanings of things are. I can discern more fully what is right and what is wrong. I still mess up, but now that I know the power of Christ's Atonement, I know repentance is available to me, and I use it sincerely. Heavenly Father loves us so much and He wants us home. I can feel these feelings every time I pray. I know I am a child of God, and I truly want to be with Him again and be able to have my family with me as well. The Restored Gospel gives us the opportunity to be families forever, and with prophetic leadership, I know the way to go. I know this is the true Church on the earth today, and I am so grateful for it.

How I live my faith

In the Church, I am currently teaching the 3-4 year-olds. They have been such a blessing to me and teaching them had really taught me. As I go over the basic principles of the gospel, I find myself finding things I had forgotten or not thought of in a long time. I love working with those kiddos! I will be going on a mission for the Church this summer, and I can't wait. I have been learning so much about the Gospel, and I know my knowledge will increase exponentially as I serve and teach God's children!
