Hi I'm Randy

I grew up in a small town in Utah, but I have been to many different places. I am a retired teacher of 43 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After high school, I attended and graduated in Elementary Education from BYU. I started my career in South Australia. While there, I met my wife, was married and had our first child. My wife and I are the parents of 5 children who are all grown and successful. I did not serve a mission, but had the privilege of baptizing my wife. I have retired from teaching after enjoyable 43 years and thousands of students in my classrooms. I enjoy raising chickens, a garden, and cooking, and traveling to other countries. Besides Australia, we have been to New Zealand, Samoa, Japan, India, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Italy. We will add England to our list this year as we will be serving a senior mission there.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church all my life, but that doesn't mean I have been perfect or have always lived it. As a youth it was easy to just go along with my friends because that was the thing to do. Developing a testimony of the gospel takes time and study. I have found recently that reading the scriptures has really helped me understand more about Jesus Christ than I know before. I know that it is harder than ever for young people to focus on spiritual things with the impact of technology and the media on everyday life. I would recommend to anyone the importance of gaining a personal testimony of the gospel and an understanding of God and what he expects from his children. I am a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth through His chosen prophets for the betterment of mankind.

How I live my faith

I have served in many callings, beginning as the pianist in primary when I was only 12 years old and have served in that calling many times in my life. I have also served in Scouting as a Cub leader, Scout Master, Varsity leader, and other related callings. Most recently I have served as Wolf den leader, Ward chorister, and Choir director. I enjoyed them all. Serving others, whether young or old, is a blessing.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Randy
My wife and I will be serving a mission. We will pay our own expenses for 18 months. We hope that we can be of service to members and nonmembers in the mission. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Randy
The Holy Bible, along with modern day scripture is the foundation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe that God talked with ancient prophets who recorded His messages to his people. We also believe that God continues to speak to his followers and that modern-day prophets receive his word and gospel continuously. Show more Show less
